About Penny

pennybiopict1PENNY BACCHIOCHI  is an experienced legislator who takes pride in constituent service and is committed to making her district a better place to live, work and raise a family. She is ranking member on the General Assembly’s General Law Committee. Penny also serves on the Public Safety and Security Committee and the Insurance Committee. Penny is the owner of Louis Management, a family-owned property management company in Stafford. Penny’s roots in her district, her involvement in local civic organizations and her professional background have given her a unique understanding of the issues that are important to Stafford, Somers and Union residents. With more than 25 years of housing experience, Penny has the knowledge and understanding of the complex issues facing our state. During the 2006-2008 session, Rep. Bacchiochi worked with the Somers Housing Authority and numerous other state, local and private entities on the successful completion of the Phase I Woodcrest Senior Housing. This is a milestone that will bring comfort to seniors in the district for decades to come. Penny has also served on two prison-related task forces. She serves on the Sitting Committee, charged with finding ways to work with municipalities to site housing and other services for released inmates. Additionally, she is serving on the Prison Staff Safety committee, addressing the important issue of prison staff safety. Penny is a member of National Association of Realtors, the Connecticut Association of Realtors, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors, the Rural Rental Housing Association of Southern New England, the National Council for Affordable and Rural Housing, the Northern Connecticut Land Trust, the National Rifle Association, and the University of Connecticut Alumni Association. She is a member of the Johnson Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, the Somers Republican Town Committee, the National, State and Somers PTA, the Northern Connecticut Land Trust, and a past volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Penny was born and raised in rural Stafford. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1979, and went on to graduate from Becker Jr. College with an Associate of Science degree in Social Work and from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations.
