Bacchiochi: Common Sense Principles Needed at Capitol
HARTFORD — Inaction on Connecticut’s budget crisis must give way to decisive decision making and common sense financial principles that will jumpstart the state’s stagnant economy and job market, Rep. Penny Bacchiochi said today. Aimed at focusing her efforts on that, Bacchiochi arrived at the House chamber mid-morning for the start of a legislative session that will run into May. She intends on supporting legislation will put Connecticut’s massive shortfalls to bed while providing lasting solutions to structural problems within the state’s budget. Gov. M. Jodi Rell addressed state senators and representatives in the House chamber, outlining her fiscal initiatives for the next year. Bacchiochi agreed with her message to the legislature: Increasing taxes and fees isn’t the way to fix Connecticut’s ailing economy. Bacchiochi has been a proponent of eliminating Connecticut’s multi-million dollar budget hole through proposals that would see consolidation of state agencies and programs that either produce poor results or offer duplicative services.
