Bacchiochi Talks Budget with Local Rotarians
STAFFORD — Rep. Penny Bacchiochi met with members of the local Rotary Club inside Sun Valley’s clubhouse tonight to talk about the state’s budget deficit, which totals roughly $535 million. The state’s legislature must close the shortfall by the end of the fiscal year — June 30. Bacchiochi explained to the group that solving the state’s budget problems will require difficult and unconventional decisions from lawmakers, such as combining several state agencies. Bacchiochi explained that state spending has vastly outpaced Connecticut’s population growth.
